ASTM E907-25

Standard Test Method for Field Testing Uplift Resistance of Adhered Membrane Roofing Systems

PUBLISH DATE 2025
PAGES 7
ASTM E907-25

1.1 This test method covers the determination of the resistance of adhered roofing membranes to uplift pressure. It applies to adhered roof membranes with any substrate type, with or without mechanically fastened or adhered cover board, rigid board insulation, or base ply. The modes of failure detected by this test method include adhesive failure of bonding adhesive to underside of membrane, cohesive failure of bonding adhesive, adhesive failure of bonding adhesive to substrate, and cohesive failure of substrate.

1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.

1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

4.1 This field test method is suitable for determining the uplift resistance of the roofing system as stated in applicable specifications, bid documents, or where required by other authorities having jurisdiction. This field test method is also intended to supplement measurement of the uplift resistance performance of roofing systems as determined under laboratory conditions.

4.2 This test method is commonly used on newly installed roofs, in which case it is intended to be conducted as soon as possible after completion of the installation while complying with 8.3 to prevent aging, weathering, wear, or other in-service factors from impacting the results.

4.3 This test method can also be used to aid in situ condition assessment of existing roofs.

4.4 This test method is primarily intended for field testing, although nothing in this method precludes its use in the laboratory.
