This British Standard specifies performance requirements and gives control procedures for spray injection patching.

Spray injection patching is suitable for use on local roads and the strategic network.

This British Standard is intended to be used by producers and specifiers in the public and private sector.

NOTE Spray injection patching is a product for undertaking permanent and temporary repairs to potholes, small-scale pavement repairs and pre-patching for surface dressing and slurry‑surfacing.

It can also be used for localized preventative maintenance.

Spray injection patching is suitable for the following treatments:

  • emergency works;
  • temporary patching repairs;
  • pre-patching for surface dressing and slurry surfacing;
  • localized preventative maintenance; and
  • permanent patching repairs.

Spray injection patching is suitable for the following locations:

  • local and strategic roads;
  • hard shoulders;
  • motorways – temporary but can be permanent where located out-with the wheel path; and
  • hard running strips – un-trafficked.

Spray injection patching might be unsuitable under the following circumstances:

  • permanent repairs in areas where heavy braking is likely to occur, e.g. approaches to crossings, junctions and roundabouts; and
  • full lane width resurfacing.
