This British Standard specifies characteristics of a chromium-nickel-copper-molybdenum corrosion resisting steel supplied in the following forms, and as parts, for general aerospace use:

  1. forging stock and billets and bars for subsequent working: softened, designation S145A;

  2. forgings: solution treated, designation S145C;

  3. forgings: solution treated and precipitated, designation S145G;

  4. black bar for machining: solution treated, designation S145B;

  5. black bar for machining: solution treated and precipitated, designation S145F;

  6. bright bar for machining: solution treated, designation S145D;

  7. bright bar for machining: solution treated and precipitated, designation S145H.
