Specification for steel electrical conductor rail for railway motive power supply

PUBLISH DATE 1997
PAGES 16
BSI BS 7865:1997

This standard specifies requirements for rolled steel conductor rails used for the supply of electrical power for traction in third rail and fourth rail electrified railways. The chemical composition and electrical conductivity of the rolled steel used, and the dimensions and tolerances of the conductor rails themselves are specified.

In addition to the definitive requirements, this standard also requires the items detailed in clause 3 to be documented. For compliance with this standard, both the definitive requirements and the documented items have to be satisfied.

NOTE 1. The section properties are given for information in annex A.

NOTE 2. This standard may also be applied to other conductor rail sections than those shown in figures 1, 2 and 3.
