Hydraulic tools. Vocabulary
This International Standard provides a vocabulary for the various types of hydraulic tools, fixed and portable, and for the attachments that are used with them. The terms are given by category: general, tools for removing and shaping material, tools for assembly work.
NOTE 1 The use of the terms “tool” and “machine” can be confusing in the field of hydraulic powered tools. “Hydraulic tool” is used for hand-held machines and “fixed hydraulic tool” for larger machines, often suspended or mounted on a carrier. However, the terms “tool” and “bit” are also used for the inserted drill, file, chisel, etc. that is fitted to the machine spindle. In order to differentiate between hydraulic tool and inserted tool, the term “power tool” can be used for the former.
NOTEÂ 2 Individual tools are usually designed to operate within a maximum specific flow category given by the European Hydraulic Tools Manufacturer Association (EHTMA). Some hydraulic tools incorporate a flow control to limit maximum speed or provide adjusting speed.
