IEEE Standard for Storage System of Digital Retina Systems
New IEEE Standard - Active.
System frameworks, functional requirements for data management and storage, and interface requirements of the storage system of a digital retina system (DRS) are defined in this standard.
Specifications for the design and development of related systems are provided.
The collaborative interaction among storage services within the storage system of DRS is also supported.
The digital retina system (DRS) presents a novel end-edge-cloud collaborative computing architecture designed for efficient processing of massive video data. Thus, massive amounts of heterogeneous data, including video, feature, and analysis results carrying unified temporal-spatial identification, algorithms, and models, need to be stored properly in DRS.
The storage system is a crucial part of DRS. It features efficient data storage and retrieval, video fetching on demand, and collaborative data management capabilities, meeting the requirements of high efficiency, scalability, and privacy protection of DRS.
By uniformly managing the storage services of the cloud or edge subsystems, the storage system enables:
Currently, there is no available standard to meet the requirements of the storage system for DRS. Therefore, the standardization of the storage system will effectively enhance the capabilities of DRS.
According to IEEE Std 3161-2022, interrelated video, feature, result, and algorithm models are circulated in DRS.
The storage system of DRS, including edge storage service and cloud storage service, is mainly responsible for the efficient storage, retrieval, and management of the visual big data characterized by time and space information.
This standard aims to define the management strategies, functional requirements, and interfaces of the storage system to support the mentioned capabilities and characteristics.
It provides specifications to guide the design and development of the storage system of DRS.
