IEEE C95.2-2018

IEEE Standard for Radio-Frequency Energy and Current-Flow Symbols

PUBLISH DATE 2018
PAGES 28
IEEE C95.2-2018
Revision Standard - Active. Symbols to inform people about the presence of potentially hazardous levels of radiofrequency energy or the presence of contact current hazards in the frequency range of 3 kHz to 300 GHz are specified in this standard. Guidance is given about how these symbols should be used on warning signs and labels. (The PDF of this standard is available at no cost. The IEEE Get Program grants public access to view and download individual PDFs of select standards at no charge. Visit https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/browse/standards/get-program/page for details.)
This standard specifies the design of symbols denoting the incidence of radio-frequency (RF) electromagnetic energy in the frequency range from 3 kHz to 300 GHz. The standard also specifies the use of these symbols in signs and labels intended to warn workers and the public of the presence of potentially hazardous levels of RF energy and other hazards that may arise from RF energy, such as RF induced currents, shocks, or burns. Guidance on the application and placement of these signs in operational settings is not within the scope of this document. Users are referred to IEEE Std C95.7-2014 [B9] for additional guidance relative to placement of signage.
The purpose of this revision is to be consistent with the ANSI/NEMA Z5353 series of standards addressing the design and use of environmental warning signs and labels and IEEE Std C95.1™-2005 [B1]. This standard addresses environmental and facility safety signs, and safety signs and labels where the symbols specified in this standard may be used. Accident prevention tags are not addressed here (see ANSI/NEMA Z535.5-2011 for guidance concerning accident prevention tags). This standard provides a reference source for the design of signs and labels for RF hazards.
